Communicating Change
in a Changing Environment
IABC Presents Paul Sanchez, ABC, APR
Global Director of Organization Research and Effectiveness
Mercer Human Resource Consulting
It seems that almost every project that a communicator is involved with these days revolves around some aspect of change management. Whether it is working on a merger, changing pay plans or helping an organization embrace the prospect of outsourcing, communicators must be responsible for helping companies manage and communicate change. This raises the question for us all, “What’s a nice communicator like me doing trying to change my organization’s culture.
Even more important, communicators are being challenged to assume expanded roles and acquire new skills to ensure these changes are not only communicated, but also implemented effectively. Communicators must carefully research, analyze, inform and guide a communications strategy that will help win the hearts and minds of all stakeholders and align critical behaviors with organizational goals.
In this program, Paul Sanchez, ABC, APR, Global Director of Organization Research and Effectiveness for Mercer Human Resource Consulting, and career-long communicator - will discuss concepts and approaches that will help communicators understand what “culture” really means—and how to use that knowledge to play a lead role in the change-management process. Paul is the immediate past chair of IABC’s Research Foundation and two-term member of the International Board.
