Here you will
find information that focuses on IABC WestFair's members and local
events. We want to know if a member from our chapter has some outstanding
news he/she would like to share ... even if the news is not affiliated
with the IABC. We want to support all of your efforts.
If you have any information that you would
like to pass along to others in the organization, please send to Laura
Singer.

Program Highlights from the April 18 program
Robert L. Dilenschneider, a world-renowned communications expert, has spent more than four decades advising hundreds of companies and prominent individuals. His new book, “Power and Influence: The Rules Have Changed,” is being published in July by McGraw Hill. On April 18, Dilenschneider shared the book’s subject matter: 10 principles for surviving and thriving in a fast moving, technology driven global environment.
- Accept, adapt and accelerate – or atrophy. Denial of technical realities may mean losing your job.
- Be prepared to start – over and over again. Attitude trumps resumé.
- Think innovatively – forget about just keeping up. Know enough about technical developments to figure out what’s a must-learn.
- Seize the opportunity in every crisis. The more turbulence, the more opportunity.
- Look beyond the new rules to connect. Information flows so fast that you become irrelevant if you continue to do things the old way.
- Take the heat and never compromise. Personal attacks have skyrocketed in the blogosphere and chat forums. What really matters is how you handle them.
- Focus on your strengths. Stay out of a game that’s moving too fast.
- Keep growing your network by shaving it. Pay special attention on people who are “players” in their field.
- Seek acclaim, but practice humility. The best way to wield power is not to brag about it.
- Search for power, but never forget to share it. Foster good will, fund good deeds and further the aspirations of others.
